I have another PC using it and I have to temporarily shut down Defender blocking when doing some things on it because it also won't let me access Word docs, other files etc, even though I have their program listed in the "white list". Disabled: The following will not be blocked and will be allowed to run: - Attempts by untrusted apps to modify or delete files in protected folders - Attempts by untrusted apps to write to disk sectors These attempts will not be recorded in the Windows event log. Controlled folder access works by only allowing trusted apps to access protected folders. With controlled folder access in place, a notification appears on the computer where an app attempted to make changes to a file in a protected folder. Yep it's aggressive in what it blocks when you do. Controlled folder access protects your data by checking apps against a list of known, trusted apps. Linwood - Windows Defender when first updated to Fall Creators IIRC has this access turned off. So to clarify - is there detrimental things not being updated if this Profile is blocked, even if I don't change Presets and unblock it when I do? If so, I'll turn off Defender and just keep this computer disconnected until I have to go online. So there must be another executable that is updating that Roaming Profile? I do typically keep this dedicated PC running LR & housing all of our pics off the net, but this is a JIC. I have access to the catalog and don't see anything going on unusual in LR when using it. Which is why I was wondering why the access error. Phil - I have the LR executable listed in Defender as do not block.
